Wexford County Road Championships 2016

The Wexford County Road Road Race Championships 2016 will be held on Saturday July 23rd. Sign on at Naomh Eanna GAA Complex, Clonattin, Gorey at 9.30am with the first riders off at 10.30am sharp. A4’s will go off first followed by A3’s then the A2’s & A1’s.

The route will take the riders north up to Kilmurray cross roads and a right turn heading for Ballymoney village. In the village the riders will turn left, passing the Tara Vale Pub, and tackle the first climb (details) up to a T-junction. Turning right, the route follows the lumpy road all the way around Tara Hill. Going through Tara Hill village the riders will start another short climb, which will bring them along to the T-junction at the top of Kilmurray Hill. Turning left at this junction will start the fast descent back to Kilmurray crossroads and the end of the lap. At the bottom turn left again to start a new lap. Its 5 laps but a very lumpy hard road.

On the last lap when you descend Kilmurray you will go straight through the cross roads back towards the sign on location and finish at the 50km speed signs near the Naomh Eanna GAA complex. The finish is a perfect straight up a slight incline.

Remember, all participating clubs need to provide marshalling help to ensure entry for their riders and the safety of the race. I will be in touch with the respective clubs over the coming days. Anyone with Cups, etc. please ensure they are returned before the race day for the post race presentations.
